EURO CUP 2012 GOES TO POLAND AND UKRAINE

In a shock decision, the hosting of Euro 2012 has gone to Poland and Ukraine. The Eastern European neighbours beat off a bid by World Cup holders Italy and a joint bid from Hungary and Croatia to host the 14th European football championship.

The decision was announced in Cardiff, Wales on April 18th 2007 at a meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee.

Head of the Ukranian FA, Hryphor Surkis said, "It is my main aim to hold a tournament that will change both our country and its people".

There had been concerns about a Polish bid following a corruption scandal that rocked the national game and nearly resulted in Poland's expulsion from Euro 2008. FIFA president Sepp Blatter moved to allay such concerns when he said, "The Polish [football] federation has recovered the total rights and confidence of the FIFA family...".

Late lobbying by Poland and Ukraine appears to have been the deciding factor in the decision and new UEFA chief Michel Platini is thought to have been an influence in taking the tournament to Eastern Europe. Platini said, “Today Poland/Ukraine has been chosen by the UEFA Executive Committee to host UEFA Euro 2012 and they are surely a worthy winner. However there are no losers today, rather only bids that have not won this time round.”

Euro 2012 will be the first major sporting event held in former communist Eastern Europe since the Moscow Olympics in 1980.

Also addressed at the UEFA meeting was the possibility of an expansion of the European Championships to 24 teams. This will not happen in Poland and Ukraine but a timetable has been put in place to conduct a study into possible expansion for Euro 2016 onwards.

Greatest Keepers of all time

Hi and welcome again it's me Hubert Filipkowski. For generations the game of football (soccer) has depended on its strikers that are to finish goals off, Midfield to create plays from the middle, and defense to keep the opposition tight and unable to score. One major position that is usually missed frequently, is the keeper. The Goal keeper has a very important role, he can save the game with a beautiful save or totally screw up and miss the ball totally. The Goal Keeper is most crucial in late stages of games, you always need the goalkeeper to be on his toes each second to pull out the win. The goal keeper is most depended on the Penalty shot, it makes a hugh differences if your keeper guesses the write way to jump and save the ball.
That's enough coverage on the position now. Lets talk about some of the present greats playing in the game. When you here goalkeeper, you automatically think Dida or Peter Cech or perhaps GiGi Buffon, but talent has extremely grown in the position over the past couple of years and has inspired younger players to kick it up a knotch, Some great young talents i can think of is Artur Boruc (the young talented Polish goalkeeper) or Paul Robinson a Yorkshire lad just 20 years old. These are two prime examples of whats to come in the beautiful game of football.

Thank you

Getting Juiced up before the big game

I welcome you again to another interesting sports topic written by no other than your favorite sports page writer.... Hubert Filipkowski. Today I will be discussing and explaining to you (the reader) what gruesome and absurd things an athlete would do to get that extra kick in the ass to uphold a greater position than his opponent.
Over the years we the normal blue collared citizens and people all over the world have always been asking our selves, "what does it take to go the limit?" some would always say hard work and determination will take you too greatness, others would say cheating and sticking a syringe up your ass full of artificial adrenaline and steroids would do the trick. People over the years have seen so called hero's such as Barry Bonds and Jose Canseco hit hundreds of baseballs out of the ballpark because of these so called artificial enhancing drugs. Baseball although a big contributer is not the only pro dominant sport that uses these boosters, but Football, Hockey, Soccer, Olympic sports etc. I can go on and on all day people, but that wont prove my point. We the public have to share a greater eye and find these normal blue collared athletes such as Bonds and Conseco that are cheating everyone from a true and real experience of Athleticism.
Sporting Entertainment has done a lot these past couple of years to find these cheaters, but in my mind they need to do a whole lot more if they wanna keep athleticism alive and well for generations to come.

Thank you

Sports in General

Hi! My name is Hubert Filipkowski, and I will be writing articles for the sport section of Koscription. I have spent much time researching and experiencing all the sports the world has to offer. Some sports that I will cover on this page are Soccer and Hockey.

Soccer is by far the world’s most popular sport, and most convincing to watch. It contains some of the worlds most athletic and agile competitors. Soccer today in Europe is called Football, which in our North American society contains two beefy guys going at it for a pig skinned ball. Even though the two continents have a very different out look on the two sports, they both contain a goal, whether it be scoring a goal into a net or dancing in the end zone after a touchdown. I have been fortunate enough to experience both sports and have enjoyed it plenty.

Hockey is the most played and watched sport in Canada. Kids have been watching movies and documentaries about Wayne Gretzky or Bobby Orr since they’ve been able to walk and skate. People are inspired by the great sport because of the intensity and fierce drive in the game, recently speed has even increased in the game, with more younger talent entering leagues with lighter equipment. The game is expanding into more of a North American game moving and inspiring more southern states in the USA. I have been lucky enough at a young age to play hockey, I played since I was five to the age of fourteen and will never forget some of the game celebrations I experienced.

These two sports were the two sports I really enjoyed playing in my life, not to say I didn’t enjoy Baseball or Taekwondo, or any other sport I missed, but these two were by far the most interesting and enjoyable.
